NOTE

1.
  1. Fimmen [1921] 4 mentions a place called 'Suphlar' from which Mycenaean sherds in the National Museum in Athens are supposed to have come.
  2. Ålin [1962] 142 picks this up as 'Suphlar' and mentions the sherds. He adds a note (44) 'Wird hier viell. Tsuflar, etwas sudlich von Sophades, gemeint?'
  3. Simpson [1965] 151, no. 505 Souphli Magoula, says this: "It is possible that Souphli may be the real provenance of the sherds said to have come from "Suphlar" (Fimmen KMK 4, and Ålin EMF 142), although the name Suflar or Tsuflar appears in at least three different places in Thessaly."

I cannot test Ålin's assertion because I cannot find a place 'Tsuflar' south of Sophades. I am using Souphli Magoula as a placeholder for 'Suphlar' but not because I can give any real assurance that this is the right place.
