NOTES

1.  For the position of Aphidna tumulus see this.

An important new paper on Aphidna is : Jeannette Forsén, 'Aphidna in Attica Revisited', in A. Philippa-Touchais et al. (eds.), Mesohelladika. La Grèce continentale au Bronze Moyen (Bulletin de Correspondence Hellenique, Suppl. 52), Paris-Athènes, 2010, 223-234.

Dr. Forsén, in a personal communication of 11/5/17, says that among modern scholars 'no one has been able to find any traces of Wide's tumulus-and many of us have tried'.

2.  Dr. Phialon relies on Sam Wide's report.

3.  For a short account by the Swedish Academy, 'Aphidna, Attica (1894)' see this. The article (Fig. 1) shows the site about 160 m. further S.
