1. For the position I have followed Zangger. French's directions cannot be reconciled as there can be no place which is simultaneously 2 km. ESE of Çerkestevfikiye and 4 km. SSE of Eǧriköy.
2. With respect to French's 'two doubtful pieces' of Mycenaean pottery see his fn. 16 on 73: "Pieces somewhat similar, at Sardis, were originally thought to be Mycenaean (ILN 1.4.61, fig. 6) but are not now generally accepted."
