NOTE

1. Some have thought, as Kelder seems to, that the city of Teichioussa is located at or near Kömür Adasi. In the on-line reference work Treccani (http://www.treccani.it/enciclopedia/teichioussa_%28Enciclopedia-dell%27-Arte-Antica%29/) under the article of 'Teichioussa', we read this: ' ... sebbene già nel 1817 M. Barbié du Bocage avesse indicato, su una carta, una "Tichiussa" sul lato settentrionale della baia di Akbük.' This would put it right by our site. But the preponderance of opinion is that Teichioussa is located some 9 km. to the SE of Kömür Adasi at F2965. See Princeton Encyclopedia of Classical Sites under 'TEICHIUSSA (Do?anbeleni) Turkey'.
