NOTES

1.  Pelon [1976] 252 stresses that the exact position of the tholos was not made clear either by Tsountas or by Heurtley and Skeat.

2.  In 1896 Leonardos uncovered two (PG or G) tholos tombs on the Marmariani mound. Leonardos recommended further excavaton at the site and this was carried out in 1898 by Tsountas. He opened four additional of the PG/G tombs and discovered and cleared a collapsed tholos tomb on the W of the mound which he assigned to the Mycenaean based on the accompanying sherds. Later, in 1930, the whole mound was further investigated and described by Heurtley and Skeat. By that time the exact location of the Mycenaean tomb was lost nor was it discoverable by them. What is known of the Mycenaean tomb is addressed here as C1929; the other, later, tholoi in C1292.
