NOTE

1. The location given in Messenia I is "Ca. 1 1/2 km. N-NE of Lantzoi village ... Bearings to church of Ayios Demetrios in Lantzoi, 193°; to chapel of Ayios Georgios (ca. 600 m. to N-E), 21°." Ayios Demetrios is at F420 and the chapel of Ayios Georgios is at F421. These two bearing lines (13° from Ayios Demetrios and 201° from Ayios Georgios intersect just at the north edge of a little hill. (Pro Tip: when choosing the second bearing line try to ensure that it is not 180° to the first.) This hill is 1077 m N of Ladzio/Latzio (rather short of Messenia II's claimed 1 1/2 km.). The site itself is clearly some 100 m or so to the S of this intersection point and on top of the little hill which stretches NE-SW. Messenia I muddies its description somewhat by dragging in a second, irrelevant, hill on which there were "ruins of a chapel of Ayios Ioannis". This new hill is thought to be 1/2 km. SE of the actual site under consideration. If this is so then the hill of Aghios Ioannis would lie at approximately 37.713531° N, 21.565791° E (I have marked this as F609). This hill has been heavily terra-formed for olives and I can see no chapel remains.
