NOTE
1. Contributed by Professor S. Murray, University of Toronto. Dr. Rutter gives it as on the west side of the Eurotas and in connection with a new bridge to support the Sparta to Megalopolis highway. There are three such bridges in the neighborhood of the town of Karavas. I have chosen the middle bridge because it also fits well with Banou [1996] 41 which reads: '...außerhalb des Dorfes Karavas dem rechts von ihr fließenden Eurotas am meisten nähert, erhebt sich ein kleiner Hügel, der von dem Eurotas umbegen den Eindruck einer Insel erweckt...' Indeed the hill at the chosen location does give the impression of an island.
