NOTES

1. Simpson [2018] 283 supposes this to be the temple to Heliconian Poseidon mentioned in Pausanias vii 24.5: " ..., where the Ionians had a very holy sanctuary of Heliconian Poseidon." Cf. Iliad viii.203, xx.404. Kolia [2011] 237-8 suggests that the Geometric temple was sacred to Poseidon but does not try to say that he thinks it to be the specific temple mentioned in Pausanias.
