NOTES
1. Aristeia Project reproduces old engravings of the wall and a locator map on their page which is here.
2. Koldewey [1890] 44 suggested that this construction was a sanctuary based on the ideas that 1) the site was very nearly indefensible and 2) the thinness of the building walls speak for a wooden superstructure. As he says: ' ,... die jede Möglichkeit einer wirksamen Vertheidigung ausschliefst für ein Heiligthum die Colossalität der Stutzmauer - Construction, während die verhältnißmäßig dünnen Gebäudemauern auf hölzernen Oberbau deuten werden.'
