NOTE
1. With respect to Tachi (Tachy) there are things to bear in mind. Symeonoglou [1985], p. 292, Site 201, identifies a location at F3315 (38.308987 N, 23.317446 E) which he suggests is the double sanctuary of Demeter and Dionysos (in Pausanias 9.8.3). The pottery discovered there 'included three Mycenaean and two Geometric potsherds, ...' but more Archaic, Black- and Red Figure pottery. A second location identified with Tachi is at or near F932 (38.304126 N, 23.310793 E) and described by Fossey ([1988], pp. 208-210, '2. Takhi - Potniai') and Farinetti (Farinetti [2009], AI12], pp. 7-8, section 18, 'Tachi' ). Fossey describes 'several ancient worked blocks around the village and especially at two of its springs'. None of these remains predates the PG. It is probable, Fossey thinks, that all these are remains of tombs from a cemetery that stretched along the road from Thebes to Eutresis. Farinetti, following Fossey, interprets this site as a cluster of tombs. She instances (component T_149) 'A small group of Mycenaean graves (dated to the LH III A1 period) are also known from the area ...'. She references AD 48 1993 (1998) 167 to 173; AD 49 1994 (1999): 269-271. It is clear that Farinetti and Fossey are referring to one set of sites and Symeonoglou to another. What is confusing is that Symeonoglou and Fossey use the same toponym, 'Potniai', to refer to their respective sites. See Symeonoglou's valuable discussion at op. cit., 174 and elsewhere. It does appear that there were some LH remains found at both location complexes. (Symeonoglou, p. 59 and Farinetti op. cit, p. 8).
