NOTE

1. Simpson [1981] 17, 'A 2 Phychtia: Boliari' says that a chamber tomb was found in about this area (Boliari) on a hill called 'Pera Sphalaktra'. "The site is the hillock marked "Pera Sphalaktra" on Steffen's map." This is a mistake in the discovery report. Pera Sphalaktra is indeed marked on Steffen's map - about 3 km. directly to the S of the named area of Boliari (F6552) and directly W of the Mycenaean acropolis. The very same hill is also marked in Iakovidis' et al. [2003], 71 map 'Overall Area and Cemeteries' in squares D2 and D3.

The bottom line is that 'Boliari' and 'Pera Sphalaktra' hill are very different places. With respect to what was actually found on that hill see the details in Iakovidis et al. [2003] as mentioned above. Iakovidis' Archaeological Atlas of Mycenae) is now the authoritative survey of all finds in the region E of the main highway and generally supersedes the older gazetteers.
