Pleiades Lat/Lon: 40.25° N, 23.25° E Error: 5.61 km.
507480 : Zereia/ZeiraCorrected coordinates : 40.243730° N, 23.315583° E.
Diodorus tells us that at the start of his campaign against Olynthos in the 340's B.C. Philip II of Macedon crossed the border of Chalcidice and destroyed the fortress of Zereia. In the next year he besieged and destroyed Olynthos. The location of Zereia is now unknown and I have placed Zereia's marker in the area near Olynthos because it appears to be associated with that area and even, possibly, with Pallene.[1]
