GENERAL SITE TYPE  Sherds

TYPE

1.    Artifacts.   Simpson and Dickinson [1979], 58    'LN and possibly EH I material has been found on the Halieis acropolis.'
2.    Sherds.   Simpson [1981], 31    'In the excavations on and around the acropolis of Halieis Neolithic and possibly EH I material has been found, but the next period represented ... is the Protogeometric.'

PERIOD (High Chronology)

1. EH: (3100 BC - 2000 BC)
    a.    Jameson [1976]: 84, 'Aside from some meager remains of Latest Neolithic-Early Helladic (Early Bronze Age) occupation on the low acropolis and some isolated finds of Late Bronze Age date, the occupation of the site seems to have begun on a small scale in the eighth century B.C.'

2. EH I: (3100 BC - 2700 BC)
    a.    Simpson [1981]: 31, ' ... and possibly EH I material has been found, ... '
    b.    Simpson and Dickinson [1979]: 58, 'EH I?', ' ... and possibly EH I material ... '

3. Late Bronze Age: (1570 BC - 1200 BC)

1.  This is the acropolis. The ancient city was located about 365 meters distant and at an angle of 61 degrees from the acropolis.
